Trouble Exporting a BI Report to Excel - Unable to run reports in Excel format. PDF and HTML reports work. The Yahoo or Google toolbar is installed.

Resolving the problem

The Yahoo or Google toolbar's Pop-up blocker is treating the report as a pop-up. Uninstall the Yahoo Toolbar, disable the Pop-up blocker, view the blocked pop-up or allow the popup for the Cognos web site.

If the above does not work, verify by holding the CTRL key down while launching the Excel format. The CTRL key should overide any hidden popup blocker in the system and will allow the Excel window to open.

Steps:To disable the toolbar, click on the Pop-ups icon and clear the Enable Pop-up Blocker check box. To view recently blocked pop-up, click the Pop-ups icon, and go to View Recently Blocked Pop-ups. Allow popups from the Cognos web site.

If the steps above do not resolve the issue, follow the steps below:

1. Open internet explorer.

2. Click on the "Tools" button at the top.

3. Select "Internet options" and select the "Security" tab.

4. Click on the "Local Intranet" icon.

5. Click on the "Sites" button and then click on the "Advanced" button.

6. Type in the cognos connection URL and click on the "Add" button.

7. Click on OK.
