We've discovered IE9 settings that could block Cognos from running a report in Excel (Excel options will be grayed out). Some divisions may have these settings programmed for them by policy and some CPM users may not have rights to make changes in IE9. Our goal is to make division sysadmins aware of the required settings to support CPM users, as well as keep the CPM users informed. The IE settings are in Tools, Internet Options, Security tab: 1. Find out which zone the FAB url (https://famead.fanda.ucar.edu/ibmcognos) or the more generic url *.fanda.ucar.edu is in, i.e. Local Intranet or Trusted Sites. Select a zone and the Sites button to see the list of sites (in Local Intranet, also use the Advanced button). 2. Whichever zone the FAB url is in, i.e. Local Intranet or Trusted Sites, select the zone and the "Custom Level..." button at the bottom of the Security tab. Check for the following: Downloads -> File Download: Enable Miscellaneous -> Display Mixed Content: Enable Launching applications and unsafe files: Prompt Scripting -> Enable XSS Filter: Disable If CPM users want to and have rights to do this themselves, they should right-click the IE icon and choose Run as Administrator, since admin rights are needed.
