FYI - Placeholder Tips and Tricks
· Any fields you create in Placeholder can be edited.
o HINT - Begin all Placeholder Names, both Employees and Accounts with PH-DIV for easy identification.
o HINT - For any placeholder associated with a proposal, put the proposal number in the name. This help with recycling it - it's easier to determine that this person or award it now active.
o HINT - Placeholders may take a few minutes to become available to add to grids.
o HINT - Placeholders can only be edited by the placeholder creator.
o HINT - Placeholders cannot be deleted but they can be reassigned when an employee is gone or as job dutied change - contact your Budget Office.
o HINT - To see your placeholders, you can filter on "Created by". When placeholders get reassigned, the new owner is in "Created by".
o HINT - Placeholder "Parking Lot" for Recycling Placeholders
- Placeholders cannot be deleted, but when they are no longer needed, they can be "parked" and then recycled later on.
- To get a placeholder that's no longer needed out of your grids, you change the HR Org to "Sample HR Org" or "Unknown".
- To more easily identify placeholders that are not currently in use, you can change the job title/postions code to something generic consistent with all parked placeholders and the salary to some minimal amount, like $1, to make it easy to spot ones that are ready for re-use.
