Scenarios

The scenario dimension is used to capture budget versions, actuals, and encumbrances. The meaning of a scenario can vary based on its context in a cube (e.g. cc_Employee vs. cc_Financials Exploded report). Each scenario has a start and end date attribute that will be used in order to limit the amount of date data that needs to be looped through for calculations in the TM1 models (e.g. employee by period work hours, employee by account work hours at day level). This start and end date is currently indicated in the scenario attributes. Below is a listing of the managed scenarios in the TM1 planning models.  Scenarios may be calculated* or static snapshots copied from a calculated scenario.  Most scenarios may have data in more than one budget type.  This chart depicts how the scenarios are added together or subtracted from each other to come up with totals and variances.  The "∑" symbol depicts aggregated scenarios, the "n" symbol depicts leaf level scenarios and a (1) or (-1) depicts whether the scenarios beneath it are added to or subtracted from the other.
